Portraits: Kids, Individuals & Family
When you make the decision to have a portrait taken, or to update the family photograph, you want it to be one that you look at on your wall with pride and happiness. My intention is to achieve this for you. Portrait sessions are preferable at a mutually agreed upon location, e.g the beach, a favourite park, your property. Why is a location shoot preferable you ask? I love to shoot in natural lighting and location shots are obviously best for this. Quite often the most beautiful photograph is the one where you’re comfortable and relaxed, and perhaps even the location itself has meaning to you and your family. Being on location as opposed to a studio can assist in achieving photographs that are fun, natural and interesting….they will look like you! Photography is fun, life is fun and I aim to achieve photographs that capture a piece of who you are and the connection of your family.
Prior to a portrait session, I will discuss either in person or via the phone, what you wish to achieve from the session, the number of people, what’s best to wear, the time of day best for your portrait (usually early morning or late afternoon for best lighting) and of course, where you’d like to have the shots taken. Sessions can range in length from 1 – 2 hours, dependant upon the number of people.
Newborns and Babies
Having had a baby of my own (albeit 20 years ago now), I understand the importance of capturing those first few weeks of your child’s life. It passes by so quickly that without beautiful photographs we might not remember those special moments of our children’s first days, their tiny hands, their little feet, the magic of their amazing perfect face. Newborn photography is best done in the comfort of your home where baby feels safe and secure. Unlike a portrait session, newborn sessions can take considerably longer, as time for feeding, changing, settling etc, is taken into consideration. More often than not with newborns I can be with you for at least 3-4 hours.
For the older baby, sessions can be on location in the home, or at a favourite family location. Personalities are appearing and it’s fantastic to capture the wonderment and joy as they recognise Mum and Dad, playing with a favourite toy or a sibling, or practising a newly learnt skill such as standing, clapping hands. Again, the first months fly by in a blur so the beauty of a photographic session means we are able to look back and not only remember that particular time but also other special moments in our child’s life.
Weddings
One of the most memorable and special days of your life, a day filled with love, laughter and happiness. Be it big or small, it’s a day of infinite importance, and as such the utmost of care is taken to capture all the details of the day for you. From the flowers to the bride, the cars to the groom, the venue to the bridal party and all that goes in between. Via pre wedding consults I will work with you to make sure your day is photographed as you wish so that in the years that follow, you can look back and remember the day, the love and the moments as though it were yesterday. Events & Occasions
Christenings, birthday parties or corporate functions are all examples of times when we might want to have a record of the function being held. Not only is it great to have a record of who attended your function, but also having the finer details captured too makes for valued memories. Whether it’s you and your family looking back on treasured days, or staff/clients celebrating an award/end of year function, having those prints in hand allows you to share so much with others.
